ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Darby Stanton is in her seventh year of teaching at Ridgeview Charter Middle School. During her time at Ridgeview, her bands have consistently received superior ratings at GMEA District V Large Group Performance Evaluations and have been featured in numerous community performances. Ms. Stanton is an avid supporter of new music and has commissioned several new works for band while at Ridgeview, most notably "Meditation on Amen" by Roger Zare. 

Ms. Stanton holds a Bachelor's of Music Education degree from Auburn University (magna cum laude, 2014) where she studied conducting with Dr. Rick Good and Dr. Corey Spurlin. Distinguishing herself as a clarinetist, she served as principal clarinet in the Symphonic Winds and Concert Band and played clarinet in the Dean's Woodwind Quintet, the Auburn Symphony Orchestra, and served as a Freshman Advisor in the Sudler Award-winning Auburn University Marching Band. Ms. Stanton also holds a Master's Degree in Music Education from the University of Georgia (2019). 

Ms. Stanton has worked as a clinician with numerous Georgia and Alabama bands as a symphonic band instructor, marching band instructor, music judge, and private lesson instructor. As a current member of the Cobb Wind Symphony, she has performed at the Southern Division CBDNA Conference (2017) and the Midwest Clinic (2018). She holds professional memberships in NAfME, GMEA, NBA, and Sigma Alpha Iota. 

Outside of band, Ms. Stanton enjoys yoga, traveling, and spending time with her fiance, Fred, and their cat named Cat.
